From a Rose to a Dandelion!
A rose is something that is special, need to be stored, need to be
taken good care and with hundreds of thorns on it. My life is just like a
rose, it was just beautiful externally yet, ‘shocking’ internally. When I
was young, I was treated like a princess. Everyone took care of me and
nobody dared to ignore me. I was known as “big sister” in school. It
sounded great and cool. My studies were bad except for English.
Many of my friends envied my lifestyle because at that age, I was
enjoying my life and didn’t care for others’ feelings. I often speak foul
language to hurt people. I was childish. My attitude became worse
when I was in secondary school. I was always trying to disturb the
teachers in class and tried to break into teachers’ cars during recess
time with my group of friends. The teachers thought that I was helpless
and at that time, I was in the second last class of my level. I wasn’t
feeling ashamed but glad because by acting like this, no one will care
about us. Hanging out with my bunch of ‘cool’ friends made me
refused to go home after school. I had good friends too, which I be
friended through tuition classes. They were in the top classes. They
sometimes looked down on me but would loan me a hand when I
needed help. Even though PMR examination was near, I wasn’t serious
about it at all.

Out of sudden, things started to change. I found myself studying
hard for PMR and started to seek guidance from teachers and friends.
They never fail to help me and I ended up getting an average result.
Everything went well until I realized the importance of studies in Form 5.
In 2005, my cousin brother, Kok Leong, invited me to a Christian musical
night - Xing dong. I accepted Christ after attending the musical, which
was during Xing dong Part 2. My heart was touched by the love of
Jesus on that night.

From that day on, everything started to change. I know to seek
God in times of troubles and know how to handle things. Attending
church services and Sunday classes have built up my Christian life.
Everyday with faith, I read bible and pray. As I begin my college life,
however, I was feeling very lost and did not know what courses to
choose. I prayed to God and He led me all the way. I found a good
college and taking double major in Mass-Communication and Psyc-
hology which are suitable for me. Throughout college life, I realize that
God is always there to help when I seek Him for help. I’ve learned to
leave my problems to Him and He will lead me! I got to know a few
brilliant friends in college and they motivate me and encourage me all
the time. I thank God for these people in my life and also for blessing
me with good results. I guess if it wasn’t God, I would not be here to
praise Him and glorify His name with my testimony.

Even though, in Form 3, I was not a Christian yet Jesus’ eyes was
on me. He started molding me to become a better person. Now, my
life has changed from an arrogant rose to a dandelion - soft and frag-
ile, flies around just like it to spread the love of Jesus Christ. I never
expected my life would become so wonderful.

My advice to you is to be alert always and never fail to do what
Jesus wants us to do. If He wants to mold you into a better person,
nothing can stop Him from doing it for His love is so powerful that when
it touches your life, you will never regret for saying, “Yes, I do!” to Him!
